Dale Jones Omaha Concert reviews
A night to remember
To the venue chaotic was the event from the moment of arrival, to say the least. Trying to know which door to enter was very confusing as someone from out of town, and unfamiliar with the arena. We ended up in a line of thousands of people, at a standstill all asking around if we are in the right place, using the recommendation from Google maps. We were told by other folks that we were in a line for the suites only and were directed somewhere else after about 25 minutes. This line was just as long, and due to the lack of staff or security, many individuals just rushed towards the entrance in large groups cutting in front of the rest of us who had been there about 45 mins by this point. We then entered a new line to lock our phones once we finally got the tickets scanned by the one staff member at the door with a scanner. The one person locking the phones at this door did not record our seat number, and although I remembered the attendant at the gate refused to allow us to our seats until we had a printed copy to show. We were instructed to fight the crowds and go upstairs to have our device unlocked so our seats could be recorded on paper. Had we known this, I would have much preferred to print my ticket to avoid all of the extra time, but the recommendation was to bring your phone as the ticket, go figure... The show was fantastic once in our seats, the experience was great! I found the volume of the performance a bit too loud - but that was a personal preference. We were sandwiched between thousands of people trying to get their devices unlocked once the show ended. With our phones locked and being in a foreign city, my fiance felt a bit sick and wanted to meet me by the washrooms; however, we didn't know how to communicate with one another. It was definitely an experience to say the least lol I'm sure these are just kinks but it does make me question if these types of events are something I would continue to attend in the future. Finally, hundreds of people started rushing the emergency exits with the phones still locked to avoid the chaos as we waited, and the line got more and more irate, and more people pushed down the stairs into an already overloaded hallway with no room to move. Once the show ended, we were sandwiched between thousands of people trying to get their devices unlocked. We waited as the line got more and more irate and more people pushed down the stairs into an already overloaded hallway with no room to move. It seems that covid really through a wrench in these events- not sure if it's due to understaffing or lack of training but it was certainly not as smooth or well organized as the last two Dale Jones performances I've seen in Toronto. Towards the end of the show, my fiance felt a bit sick and wanted to meet me by the washrooms, however, with our phones locked and being in a foreign city, we didn't know how to communicate with one another. Once in our seats, the experience was great, the show was fantastic! I found the volume of the performance a bit too loud - but that was a personal preference. We were instructed down a stairwell that lead back to the entrance line with thousands of people still trying to enter after that we were told our seats were on the main floor and that we had to go downstairs to get to our seat. We went back upstairs to inform the event staff- they had to walk us through the crowd in order for is to be able to get back downstairs. Being that the show was delayed so long, it seemed like an opportunity missed to not have had some music or something happening in the background to keep guests entertained.
